Dr. Ferdinand Eibl

​Political economy of distributive politics, social policies, and authoritarian rule in the MENA region.

Ferdinand Eibl is Senior Lecturer in Political Economy at King’s College London. He completed his PhD in the Department of Politics and International Relations at the University of Oxford. He also holds an MPhil in Modern Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Oxford and a BA in Political Science from the University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt and the IEP Rennes. Before joining King’s College London, he was a research officer at the London School of Economics Middle East Centre.

His research interests include the political economy of distributive politics, social policies, and authoritarian rule in the MENA region. His first monograph Social Dictatorships: The Political Economy of the Welfare State in the Middle East and North Africa was published with Oxford University Press in 2020. His published articles have appeared, amongst others, in the American Political Science Review, the British Journal of Political Science, and the European Journal of Political Economy.
